REN SAKAMOTO

LOCATION NOTES / KUMAMOTO, KYUSHU

An Aso shoot day,
with room to adapt.

A modest starting point for a small photo or video production in the Aso area.

This is an indicative planning outline, not a booked itinerary, fixed-price package or permission-approved route. It does not represent a past client shoot. Locations, timing and feasibility need project-specific checks.

THE STARTING POINT

One area.
Two visual ideas.
A fallback.

Assume a small crew with transport arranged, a limited shot list and a day starting in the Aso area. Travel from Kumamoto city is additional planning time, not a guaranteed transfer inside this outline.

Grassland & caldera context

Aso is a caldera landscape in central Kyushu. Kusasenri is a grassland setting near the volcanic peaks; Daikanbo is a viewpoint on the caldera rim. Treat them as alternatives to research, rather than a promise to fit every landmark into one day.

People & local detail

A portrait or a small business interior can complement landscape images if a willing participant and location can be arranged. Consent, access and intended usage must be agreed in advance.

A flexible visual brief

For example: a wide establishing image, a small set of environmental portraits and detail shots. Shot count, finished film length and delivery date would be agreed separately.

INDICATIVE / NOT A CALL SHEET

A deliberately light outline.

Timing blocks illustrate the shape of a day. They are not appointment times or a guarantee of light, weather, access or available personnel.

  1. BEFORE THE DAY

Make the go / no-go decision

Confirm the shot list, permissions and named responsibilities. Check the forecast, route and official access notices. Decide which weather fallback is actually available.

  2. EARLY DAY

    One landscape setup

Work in a single researched area, such as a permitted setting around Kusasenri or a caldera viewpoint. Allow for setup and visitor activity. Sunrise access is not assumed.

  3. MIDDAY

    Transfer, break & review

Keep time for travel, food and a footage check. Review conditions before committing to the second setup. Avoid building the schedule around precise transfer estimates before scouting.

  4. AFTERNOON

    A portrait or local-detail setup

Use a pre-arranged participant or location to add a human scale to the story. If weather changes, use a separately agreed covered or indoor location, or revise the date.

  5. WRAP

    Check media & next steps

Allow time for a media check and agree the handoff. Editing, file transfer and any later revisions follow the written project scope.

QUESTIONS TO RESOLVE

The practical part
comes first.

Access & permissions

A sightseeing description is not a filming authorization. Confirm land-manager consent, site conditions and any project-specific requirements before committing to a location. Drone filming is not part of this outline.

Weather & volcanic conditions

Mount Aso is an active volcanic area. Conditions can change access, including at the crater. This outline does not require crater access; use official current notices when planning and again before travel.

People & production needs

Confirm date availability, crew size, communication language, transport, insurance responsibilities, equipment and how the work will be used. These are open planning questions, not included services.

OFFICIAL STARTING POINTS
